ScrumMaster actively communicates with team member devices using NextWave’s Agile Story Sizing Cards, automatically updating information in their Team profiles!
Manage your ScrumMaster connectivity from Charms > Settings > Network.
By default, ScrumMaster is always listening unless you turn it off here.
At any time, if the globe icon in the upper left of a ScrumMaster screen is blue, peer-to-peer is on and ScrumMaster is looking for any device using Agile Story Sizing Cards. If the red satellite dish icon displays, P2P is turned off and ScrumMaster is not looking to connect to anyone else.
If a teammate has identified you as their Scrum Master, you will receive a pop-up toast message on your screen when he or she turns starts the Agile Story Sizing Cards application on their tablet or phone. This let’s you know that individual is connected. You also get a message when a teammate is deactivated, e.g., when someone closes their app.
If the teammate is one of your identified project team members, ScrumMaster automatically updates their device and IP information. If someone identifies you as their Scrum Master and they are not already a team member, they will be added automatically with their user name (tablet) or a generic name (phone).
TIP: If everybody on your team downloads and uses Agile Story Sizing Cards, your entire team is instantly created! Minimal data entry for you! You can quickly change key profile information (e.g., Backlog, which tracks costs for work which reduces backlog).
More than one Scrum Master with different teams using Agile Story Sizing Cards? No worries. Each application identifies the appropriate Scrum Master, keeping project teams unique.
Troubleshooting Connectivity
The Scrum Master is listening. The globe icon is blue. But, one of your teammates can’t see you. You can debug from ScrumMaster or from the team member’s Agile Story Sizing Cards device. Let’s start with ScrumMaster.
1. Is everyone on the same intranet network? (not an Internet connection) If yes, continue…
2. Check your local subnet display to see which IP addresses are on your network.
Charms > Settings > Network > My peers in my local subnet (network).
Ping any address that returns, to message the Agile Story Sizing Card device and verify that connectivity exists.
3. Meeting at a coffee shop? Not on the same private network? No problem. When you are not on a private network, view your IP address and the Port being used, and pass that information along to your Agile Story Sizing Card users.
Charms > Settings > Network > Peer-to-Peer Connectivity control
Still have problems? From the Agile Story Sizing Cards device, direct your teammate as follows.
WINDOWS 8 TABLET DEVICE
1. Open up the network connection using Charms > Settings > Network.
2. Type in the Scrum Master’s device name or IP address. Verify the correct Port number is being used (by default, it should be correct).
3. Tap the ‘Connect’ button.
If necessary, select ‘Show debug tracing’ and tap the Connect button to display additional troubleshooting information.
For future sessions, tablet users can use the ‘Previous connections’ drop down menu or select the checkbox to choose to select settings automatically.
